Project - White Light
Advanced CMS web site
White Light is a light company with headquarters in Wimbledon. They provide lighting services to a wide variety of clients from theatres to parties and corporate events.
One brand
With such a diverse range of clients and services on offer, White Light needed to think very carefully about reorganising the content of their multiple 'sub-brand' websites under a central corporate theme.
Bespoke content management
It was clear that a content management system would be essential. And as the project progressed it became clear that custom components would be required to manage:
- Staff profiles, grouped into multiple departments
- Portfolio items, split into logical groups
- News articles, grouped by topic
The delivered system is very flexible and has the capacity to enable the White Light webmaster to add information to grow the wealth of content over time.
An open source search and indexing system, called htDig, was installed. This powerful tool enables visitors to get to the desired information quickly and efficiently.
Bespoke knowledge-base
With a huge internal archive of product knowledge White Light felt that it would be a great service to share this information with the industry. It was necessary to build a bespoke data-driven platform. This had to be strict enough to enable powerful searches, but flexible enough to accomodate product types from 'climbing equipment' to 'moving lights'.
Ongoing development
In addition to regular input from the marketing manager and the webmaster Matter Solutions will be undertaking an ongoing programme of development and enhancement for White Light. This approach will ensure that the site evolves to meet the needs of their business and clients.
